Free-riding & free-style

Off the slopes in the Stubaital powder

The Stubai is well known as the Mecca for free-riders. Wide slopes, narrow gorges and challenging descents fascinate off-piste skiers. The Kalkkögel in the Schlick 2000 is a great backdrop for spectacular runs. At the Stubai Glacier deep snow slopes embedded in the high-alpine scenery are waiting to be discovered. The Powder Department offers 15 of the most popular runs that can easily be found thanks to the off-piste map and the GPS TRACK.
PLUS: The Stubai Glacier regularly offers courses on off-piste safety. However, free-riders are solely responsible for their actions. Cable car operators recommend that all skiers check the avalanche-warning situation before leaving the secured pistes, never venture out without safety equipment and following the lead of a mountain guide is also highly recommended.

Snow parks in the Stubaital: More:

Two popular and excellently shaped parks await free-stylers in the Stubai.

Particularly in autumn and spring, the Snowpark Stubai Zoo at the Stubai Glacier is one of Europe’s largest and most popular parks with Pro, Medium and Easyline. International and local free-stylers meet at the Gaisskarferner, not only for top events of Moreboards Stubai Zoo, but also to perfect their own jumps.

The Stubaipark Schlick 2000 can be found in the Schlick 2000 skiing centre. Numerous kickers and rails guarantee variety. If the weather allows, great photographs of the coolest jumps are a must.

The Stubaital – Tyrol’s largest sledding arena

After a hike through the snow-covered forests or a cable-car trip up the mountain, winter sports-enthusiasts look forward to a fast-paced sled run. In the Stubai there are no less than twelve sled runs distinguished with the Tyrolean Naturrodelbahn quality seal. With a length of 43 kilometres, the Stubaital is Tyrol’s largest sledding arena. One of Tyrol’s longest runs for the fast sleds lies in the Stubaital: The Elfer run takes you over six kilometres directly down to the centre of Neustift.

14 rental shops can be found in the Stubai. Sleds can either be rented from the sports shops in Neustift, Fulpmes and Mieders, at the three cable car operators at Schlick 2000, Elferlifte and Serlesbahnen or directly from most of the huts at the start of the runs.

A particularly exciting experience is night sledding. Four runs are illuminated, and the huts and restaurants in the Stubai are open for an entertaining night with friends.
You can ascend to the start position with one of the cable car operators, or take the Rodeltaxi. Those fit enough can, of course, also reach the start points on foot.

Safe mountain experience

The Stubai mountain world is stunningly beautiful, but mountains also pose risks. Proper preparation, adapted behaviour in nature, observation of the weather, knowledge of the area and the use of safety equipment, and years of experience guarantee safe hiking or mountaineering in the Stubaital.  These skills and knowledge are what distinguish the mountain and Ski Touring Guides of the Stubaital. These experts are happy to accompany guests on mountain tours, provide the necessary safety precautions and share the experiences in the mountains with you.

Cross-country skiing & skating

Cross-country skiing is pure recreation for everyone. In addition to alpine skiing, this Nordic sport is highly popular in the Stubaital. Not only the kilometres covered, but also the conscious experience of nature plays a key role here.

62 km of groomed and tracked cross-country skiing trails across all altitudes can be explored in the Stubai. These trails are also snow-secure. Skaters and classical cross-country skiers find perfect conditions no matter what the altitude. Those seeking special cross-country skiing moments during their winter holidays in the Stubaital should not miss the illuminated trail in Milders for a night session.

Crunching snow under your feet

Feeling the fresh snow step by step, past snow-covered trees, inhaling the cold winter air, accompanied by the glittering of thousands of ice crystals – winter and snow shoe hikes are particularly idyllic in the Stubaital. Far away from the troubles of everyday life and stress, you will discover the essential nature of Stubaital’s snow-decked forests. On more than 80 km of groomed winter hiking paths active holidaymakers can let both their eyes and souls wander and experience profound peace.

Fly with the eagles in the Stubaital

The unusual thermic lift and the impressive scenery make the Stubai a popular place for hang- and paragliders. Who could resist the view from above of one the Seven Summits or the many other impressive summit formations?

Professionals and beginners will be enthusiastic about these options for their activity holidays in the Stubaital. Several flight schools offer trial courses and tandem flights.

Wellness/Indoor Swimming pools

There are sufficient possibilities to go swimming or enjoy the Sauna World.  We have two big leisure centers only 2-3 minutes away from Hitchcock Apartment. Please feel free to have a look at both The StuBay Leisure Center and The Neustift Leisure Center.
